Logixboard
B2B SaaS · Freight forwarding operations
Context
Logixboard builds operational software for freight forwarders — the companies that coordinate cargo movement across global supply chains. Their product manages shipments, customer communications, and operational workflows for hundreds of freight forwarding teams.
When the engagement started, the team was shipping fast on a new AI-native product called Clockwork (formerly Helm) while also carrying real design debt in the core CX platform. There was no dedicated senior design function — and the product needed both immediate polish and a longer-term design direction.
Three workstreams, one quarter
01
Platform UI Modernization
A visual refresh of the CX product — the interface freight operators use daily to manage shipments and customer communications. Focused on design consistency, component standardization, and establishing a design system the engineering team could maintain independently.
02
Research Infrastructure
7–10 operator interviews, synthesized by AI into a queryable knowledge base. The goal wasn't just insights — it was infrastructure. A living research system the product team could reference and build on without needing to re-run studies from scratch.
The knowledge base became a shared context layer for Clockwork design decisions: what operators actually do, what slows them down, what they're optimistic and skeptical about with AI.
03
Clockwork AI-Native Interface
Clockwork is Logixboard's AI product — designed to give freight operators a fundamentally different way to work. The design challenge was translating AI capability into an interface that made sense to operators whose days are measured in shipment exceptions, customer emails, and port delays.
This workstream involved daily prototyping sessions with the CPO, customer calls to pressure-test concepts, and a continuous loop between research findings and interface decisions.
How it worked
Embedded. Not advisory. On customer calls from week one, in the team's Linear, in Figma daily. The engagement started as a design contract and expanded into product direction — working with the CPO on vision and roadmap, not just spec.
The model works because it removes the latency of a typical design agency relationship. There's no briefing process, no waiting for weekly check-ins, no translation layer between the design work and the people who built the product. I was just on the team.
Design Ghost
The engagement closed with a Design Ghost handoff — skills, agents, and playbooks tuned to Logixboard's design system, their component patterns, and Clockwork's specific interface conventions. The team can run design QA, generate on-brand concepts, and onboard a new designer without starting from scratch.
